Entering Time via the Calendar
Entering Time via the Calendar

Enter time via our weekly calendar view.

Updated over a year ago

The time entry calendar is great way to enter time by associating it what you did that day.

We find time entries are more accurate if you think about them in relation to what time you've had lunch breaks and meetings.

Written Guide

You can enter your time logs via the calendar option found under the Timesheets menu. Please note your menu options may vary based on your user permissions.

Navigating the Calendar Interface

  • Shifting Between Weeks: Use the left arrow to navigate back one week and the right arrow to move forward one week.

  • Date Selector: This feature allows you to quickly navigate to a specific date.

  • Staff Selector (Admin Only): Administrators have the ability to select a staff member to view and modify their time entries.

  • Time Entry: Represents the day, and start and end time of the work. Clicking on this allows you to edit the time entry.

  • Budget Use: If provided with a budget for a phase, this bar displays your progress.

  • Project/Phase Selectors: Use this feature to select the project and phase for which you want to enter time. If a project is not visible, consult your system administrator to verify your permissions.

  • Time Entry Options: These checkboxes enable you to tag time entries of a certain type. Depending on your system settings, these labels may vary or may not be available.

  • Note Input: This feature allows you to add a note to the time entry.

Adding Time

To add a time entry to the calendar, simply click and drag on the desired day using the start and end times specified. You should select your desired project first from the right panel, or you can edit the time entry after creation.

Editing Time

Click on a time entry to edit it.

This presents you with the same options as when adding time, with some additional options:

  • Time Input: Enter time here. You can input hours using decimals (e.g., 1.5 = 1 hour 30 minutes) or hours and minutes using a colon (e.g., 1:30 = 1 hour 30 minutes). You can also adjust the time in 15-minute increments using the arrow keys.

  • Start Time: Use this to change the start time of your time entry. The total hours will remain the same, so adjusting the start time will automatically alter the end time to match.

  • End Time: Use this to adjust the end time of your time entry. The start time will remain fixed, so altering the end time will also change the total hours to match.

  • Delete: This option allows you to delete the time entry. You will have a few seconds to undo this action, but clicking on another entry will confirm the deletion immediately.
